LIMITED EDITION - Medieval Princess Print
Dimensions 9x12in
The lives of medieval princesses is incredibly romanticized in fairy tales. In reality, the noblewomen of the Middle Ages who became princesses and queens often had incredibly complex lives filled with politics, public opinion, and societal pressures. Despite living materially privileged lives at court, they held tremendous responsibility, faced many challenges, and were often used as political pawns to gain power and forge alliances. From childhood many girls were often placed in arranged marriages, even before reaching their teenage years. The young women were frequently uprooted from their homes and sent throughout Europe to be married, often never to see their home kingdom again. Though some of these women conformed to the expectation of passivity, many royal women (such as Eleanor of Castile) displayed great strength of character, bravery, and determination.
